An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

New Children's Show Gets Kids Laughing In Pleasantville CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- Cortlandt resident Dean Friedman has gone from writing pop hits like "Ariel" to writing about smelly feet. Friedman is the writer of the new children's musical "Smelly Feet," which is performing at the Rosenthal JCC at 600 Bear Ridge Road in Pleasantville on Saturday, Nov. 8 at noon., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. "Smelly Feet" is also performing at the Moose Lodge in Ossining at 37 Croton Ave. on Nov. 15 at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. "It all started with a silly song called "Smelly Feet," Friedman said. Dog Owners In Ossining Cheer Reopening Of Dog Park OSSINING, N.Y. -- Dog owners in Ossining breathed a sigh of relief over the weekend. Ossining's dog park, in Cedar Lane Park, re-opened over the weekend, having been closed for more than a week. Cortlandt's Hen Hud Cheerleaders Look Forward To Saturday's Meet CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- The cheerleaders at Hendrick Hudson High School have had Nov. 8 circled on the calendar for months. Hendrick Hudson is hosting a cheerleading showdown and sectionals competition at the high school on Saturday. The competition begins at 2:30 p.m. with Hendrick Hudson competing first. Gearity Ready To Go To Work As New Ossining Mayor OSSINING, N.Y. -- Change has come to the Village of Ossining. Trustee Victoria Gearity defeated four-term incumbent Mayor Bill Hanauer 2,705 votes to 1,494 votes, 64 percent to 36 percent with 100 percent of the vote counted, according to unofficial results from the Westchester County Board of Elections. IBM Employee Exposed To Cyanide, Yorktown Police Say This story has been updated YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- One IBM employee was taken to the hospital after being exposed to cyanide Wednesday morning, according to Lt. Kevin Soravilla of the Yorktown police. Soravilla said there was no explosion at the Thomas J. Watson Research Center at 1101 Kitchawan Lake Road in Yorktown, but that the employee was exposed. Siegel Leads, But Diana Not Conceding Yet In Yorktown Town Board Race YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Susan Siegel appears to be the newest member of the Yorktown Town Board, but her opponent is not going quietly. According to unofficial election results from the Westchester County Board of Elections, Siegel leads Tom Diana 5,543 votes to 5,414 votes, 51 percent to 49 percent, with 100 percent of the vote counted. Murphy Defeats Wagner To Take 40th Senate District YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Republican Terrence Murphy has defeated Democrat Justin Wagner in the race for the 40th State Senate District. Murphy leads Wagner 23,938 votes to 16,456 votes, 56.94 percent to 39.14 percent, according to unofficial results from the state Board of Elections. "It's exciting times," Murphy said.
