Yorktown Seventh-Grader Emerges As Budding Music Star YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Sam Levin, a Yorktown resident is doing most things his classmates can only dream of. Levin, 12, has already released two singles on iTunes called "I Sure Hope Not," released when he was 10, and the second, "Being With You is Easy," when he was 11. Armonk's Offenberg Charged With Fraud In Ossining Assessment Scheme This story has been updated. OSSINING, N.Y. -- A 60-year-old Armonk-based assessor has been charged with two felony counts in the Town of Ossining related to an assessment fraud scheme. Oliverio Running For Putnam Valley Supervisor PUTNAM VALLEY, N.Y. -- Sam Oliverio is already gearing up for his next campaign. Oliverio, who recently lost a bid for Putnam County Executive, announced he intends to run for Putnam Valley supervisor next year. Secretary Looking For Dog That Went Missing In Yorktown YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Janet Nicolai, the secretary to Mount Pleasant Town Supervisor Carl Fulgenzi, is looking for her dog that went missing in Yorktown last week. Nicolai is hoping someone found Patches, her 18-year-old white and black long-haired chihuahua. Patches wast last seen on Loder Street. Briarcliff Man Writes Book About Civil War Hero BRIARCLIFF, N.Y. -- James Malanowski, a Briarcliff resident, has written a new book about a Civil War maverick. Malanowski's new book "Commander Will Cushing: Daredevil Hero of the Civil War," was recently published by W.W. Norton. Cushing was a complex individual who was expelled from the Naval Academy because of "a talent for buffoonery." Despite being expelled, Cushing enlisted during the Civil War where, at just 21 years old in October 1864, he sank a Confederate ironclad warship while standing in an open boat. North Castle Voters Overwhelmingly Reject Ward System Proposal NORTH CASTLE, N.Y. -- Voters in North Castle overwhelmingly said no to switching the town council to a ward system. More than 85 percent of voters voted no to the ward referendum, 2,286 votes to 399 votes, according to unofficial results from the Town of North Castle. Voters also voted against increasing the number of councilmen from four to six, 2,228 votes to 442 votes. Under the ward system, council members would have been elected based on geographic districts. Man Seriously Injured After Being Hit By SUV At Westchester County Airport WHITE PLAINS, N.Y -- A man in his 50s was seriously injured after being hit by a SUV at Westchester County Airport on Thursday afternoon. The man was working at Skytop Caterers on Airport Road, which is in building one of the airport. Man Found Dead In FDR Park In Yorktown YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- A 55-year-old man from Long Island was found dead Thursday morning in FDR Park in Yorktown. New York State Parks Police located the Amityville man after his parents reported him missing, according to Randy Simmons, the public information officer for the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.
