An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Two Hudson Valley Fire Departments Get Nearly 250K In Federal Grants The Milan Volunteer Fire Department and the Village of Pelham Fire Department each received federal funding through the Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. Milan will receive $130,952 to purchase 20 new self-contained breathing apparatus units while Pelham will receive $101,905 to purchase a new rescue vehicle. State Lawmaker Proposes Renaming Trump Park After Charlottesville Victim An assemblywoman is pushing to have Donald J. Trump State Park, located in Yorktown and Putnam Valley, named after Heather Heyer, who was killed protesting white supremacists in Charlottesville. Nily Rozic (D-Queens), said the name of the park, which closed in 2010, does not reflect the goals of uplifting and unifying New Yorkers. Trump donated the 436 acres in 2006 after he was unable to get town approval to develop a $10 million golf course. Man Charged With Assault Misses Yorktown Court Appearance A man turned himself into Yorktown Police Tuesday after two bench warrants were issued when he failed to appear in court. Joseph Franco, 40, of Greenwich, Conn., failed to appear in court on Aug. 31 after being charged with assault in the third degree and criminal contempt in the second degree, police said. Franco was released on his own recognizance and is due back in court on Sept. 7.

Man Faces Felony DWI Charge After Crashing Car In Woods, Yorktown PD Says A 60-year old Carmel man was charged two felonies after he crashed his car into the woods Sunday morning, Yorktown Police say. Thomas Scully was charged with DWI, a Class D felony because he had two prior convictions in the last 10 years after police responded to a crash in the woods off the dead end of Lee Boulevard. Montrose Man Charged With DWI Following Car Accident YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- A 58-year-old Montrose man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a car accident on Route 100 early Sunday morning. Eric Rasmussen was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated with a BAC of .08 percent or more, both misdemeanors following the two-car accident that caused property damage, police said. Rasmussen was arrested and transported to headquarters. He was released on his own recognizance and is due back in court on Sept. 14.

Teachers Help Raise $35K For New Webutuck District Program AMENIA, N.Y. -- Webutuck students have a new English language arts program, thanks to the efforts of their teachers.
