An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. Yoga Studio Opening In Thornwood THORNWOOD, N.Y. -- Thornwood residents will soon be able to find their inner peace. Rebel Yoga is set to open on Commerce Street next month, imploring patrons to "refuse to be ordinary." The studio is the brainchild of Thornwood native Tasia Sabatino, who has been teaching yoga in Westchester since 2013. Westchester's Austin Rogers Advances To Finals Of 'Jeopardy!' Tournament POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- Austin Rogers' run on "Jeopardy!" isn't over yet. Rogers, a Pound Ridge native who graduated Fox Lane High School, who garnered national attention for his 12-game winning streak this fall, advanced to the finals of the show's Tournament of Champion. Spano Considering Senate Run To Replace Latimer, Report Says Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano, a Democrat, is considering running for state senate to replace George Latimer, who was elected to County Executive last week. Citing a source, the Daily News said Spano, who will be term-limited, would consider jumping in if Governor Andrew Cuomo called a special election. Spano was previously an assemblyman. Michael Cook, 84, Former Yorktown Resident YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Michael H. Cook, 84, passed away last Friday in Florida. He was born on Jan. 18, 1933 in The Bronx to the late John “Jimmy” James Cook and Sally Fagenbaum Cook. He served in the United States Army where he was part of the 258th Field Artillary Battalion National Guard from 1949-1952 and the 8th Ordinance Company from 1953-1955 where he was a Corporal. Langley Says Putnam Voters Wanted Change PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- Robert Langley will find out if he's officially the Sheriff-Elect of Putnam County Tuesday afternoon. With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Langley leads longtime incumbent Sheriff Don Smith 11,732 votes to 11,397 votes, 50 percent to 48 percent. A write-in candidate received two percent of the vote. Area Native George H.W. Bush Accused Of Groping 16-Year-Old A woman is accusing former president George H.W. Bush of groping her when she was 16 years old.Roslyn Corrigan said Bush, a Greenwich native, groped her buttocks at a Nov. 2003 event in Texas according to Time Magazine when they were getting their picture taken. Sleepy Hollow Students Honor Veterans SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. -- Sleepy Hollow students got into the patriotic spirit in honor of Veterans Day last week. The school installed 420 American flags on the lawn outside Sleepy Hollow/Middle School. The installation was the brainchild of Chick Galella, who survived Pearl Harbor and Michael Galella. Briarcliff High School Seniors Sign Letters Of Intent BRIARCLIFF, N.Y. -- Three Briarcliff athletes will be taking their talents to the collegiate level. Quinten Cooleen, Rachel Lim, and Jack Ryan signed their letters of intent Wednesday at a ceremony at Briarcliff High School.
