Harrison Huskie Cheerleaders Compete For Section 1 Championship HARRISON, N.Y. -- The Harrison High School Varsity Cheerleaders qualified and competed in the first ever Section 1 Championships held at White Plains High School on Feb. 27. Competitive cheerleading was recognized in 2014 as an interscholastic sport by the New York State Board of Regents in an effort to improve safety and coaching standards.  Even though the Huskies did not take home the Championship trophy this year, teammates Sophia Jacobi, Krystal Shaw, Sabrina Winoski and Gianna Menniti received Varsity All League honors at the event.

Track, Field Student From Lakeland Wins State Championship SHRUB OAK, N.Y. -- Cameron Thompson, a student at Lakeland High School in Shrub Oak, won the New York State Championship in the Weight Throw on Saturday. He becomes the first indoor state champion in boys indoor track from the district.  He qualified for the state championship by winning the Section One Weight Throw.  Thompson's best throw at the county meet was 68 feet, 3 inches, which is only 5 1/2 inches behind the S=state leader. That throw currently ranks him 12th in the nation. Cameron now holds the Section 1 record in that event.
