Ridgewood Library Kicks Off Reading Marathon RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- The Friends of the Ridgewood Library kicked off the annual Reading Marathon on Sunday at the library's "Edible Book Festival." Middle-school students were invited to select a book and bake a cake that interprets their book selection. The Reading Marathon kick-off event for preschool and elementary students was held on Monday, featuring “Up, Up and Away”, a fun and interactive session with Science. A festive musical event with “UniBeat Drum Circle” is planned for Wednesday, March 2 from at 4 p.m. The Ridgewood Library is located at 125 N. Maple Ave.

Stamford Man Charged With Swinging Metal Rod At Police Officer STAMFORD, Conn. -- A Stamford man is facing shoplifting and assault charges after attempting to fight off a police officer with a metal rod at Target on Friday, according to the Stamford Advocate. Authorities were called to Target at approximately 10 p.m. on reports of a shoplifter. Officials approached Handal Merilus, 46, who was holding a metal rod and reportedly swung it at the responding officer, the Stamford Advocate reported. Three Arrested In Stamford Following Chase On I-95 STAMFORD, Conn. -- Three South Carolina men were arrested in Stamford following a high-speed chase with narcotics and organized crime officers on Interstate 95 on Saturday, according to the Stamford Advocate. The incident began when officers attempted to pull over a vehicle with out of state plates. The vehicle sped off once authorities exited their vehicle and got onto I-95.
