Bergenfield Leaky Sewers 'Out Of Control' BERGENFIELD, N.J. -- Water infiltrating pipes underneath the roads in Bergenfield is becoming a problem and is likely costing the borough money, according to NorthJersey.com. The borough paid the utilities authority $2,527,428 in 2014 for treatment services, an increase of $80,000 from 2013, NorthJersey.com said.  The largest reason for the problem is an infrastructure that dates back to the 1920s that is cracking and struggles to keep up with demand brought forth by a larger population.
