An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Ossining Resident Writes Book About The Beatles OSSINING, N.Y. -- Susanna Reich, an Ossining resident, is introducing the Beatles to a new generation. Reich is the author of "Fab Four Friends: The Boys Who Became The Beatles," a picture book that focuses on the childhoods of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr and the beginning of The Beatles. Peekskill Woman Celebrates 103rd Birthday PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Rose Zieff is as old as an Oreo. Zieff, who was born in 1912, the same year Oreos were invented, celebrated her 103rd birthday on July 30. Zieff, who lives at Drum Hill in Peekskill, previously lived in Jefferson Village in Yorktown. Zieff's birthday was marked with a proclamation from Peekskill Mayor Frank Catalina and a letter from President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. "It feels very good," Zieff said. Westchester County Exec Rob Astorino Expects To Run For Third Term WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, who lives in Hawthorne, said Friday he is planning to run for another term in 2017. Astorino revealed his future political plans on WGDJ Radio in Albany. Astorino was first elected in 2009 and re-elected in 2013. The county executive did not rule out another run for governor against Andrew Cuomo in 2018. Astorino ran against Cuomo last year, losing by 13 points, despite being outspent by $40 million. Three Killed, Eight Injured In Accident On Taconic Parkway In Yorktown This story has been updated. YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Three people were killed in a four-car accident on the Taconic State Parkway in Yorktown Saturday afternoon. Crash Closes Taconic Parkway In Yorktown, Causes Serious Injuries YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- State Police are investigating a serious accident that occurred near FDR Park and has shut down the southbound Taconic State Parkway in Yorktown Heights. The accident was reported at 3:45 p.m. According to state police at the Cortlandt barracks, it was a four-car accident. Police declined to provide further information since the accident remains under investigation. State police at the Hawthorne barracks said the accident caused serious injuries.

British Soldier Walking To Raise Awareness Of PTSD Arrives In Peekskill PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- These might have been the toughest 35 miles British Army veteran Neil Davis has had to walk. Davis continued his nationwide walk across America Thursday, walking 35 miles from Danbury to Putnam County, then ending up in Peekskill by nightfall. Ossining Resident Shines In HBO Miniseries Set In Yonkers OSSINING, N.Y. -- Looking like a "troublemaker" on a movie set was a positive for Ossining resident Ray Arrucci. Arrucci, who runs The Cortlandt School of Performing Arts in Croton, with his wife, Carol, was cast as an extra in "Show Me A Hero," a miniseries airing on HBO starting Sunday night that was filmed in Yonkers and is about racial tensions in Yonkers in the 1980s.
