An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Film About Nyack Native Who Saved Lives On 9/11 Debuting In Suffern ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A documentary about Welles Crowther, a Nyack native who saved 10 lives on Sept. 11, is set to premiere in Suffern. North Castle School Charges Deception By Developer NORTH CASTLE, N.Y. -- St. Christopher's is taking a developer to court to prevent a development being built next to its Jennie Clarkson campus in North Castle. The Dobbs-Ferry based organization, which runs the school for children with autism, has filed a complaint against JMF Properties, claiming it sold them land so they could build 35 apartments only to see them propose a 200-unit project, according to The Examiner. Mail It In: Palisades Mail Post Office Will Be Open On Labor Day WEST NYACK, N.Y. -- Need to mail a package on Labor Day? Don't worry, you have options. Or an option, singular.The Palisades Postal Store at the Palisades Center Mall in West Nyack will be the only post office in the Lower Hudson Valley that will be open on Labor Day. Full postal retail services are available from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with U.S. Passport application acceptance hours from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Normal mail delivery, collections, and Post Office business hours will resume Tuesday, September 5.

Rev Up Your Engines, Westchester Car Lovers: Pound Ridge Show Coming Soon Gentlemen -- and women -- start your engines. Car lovers from throughout the area have their calendars marked for the Pound Ridge Car Show. This year's event will be on Saturday, Sept. 16 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Pound Ridge Town Park at 199 Westchester Ave. The 15th annual event will feature more than 300 cars and benefits the Pound Ridge PBA Community Programs. Rockland Aims To Save Taxpayer Money By Sharing Services ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Rockland now has a roadmap to begin sharing services. New White Plains Superintendent Hosts First Coffee, Conversation WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Joseph Ricca, the new Superintendent of the White Plains, is out and about meeting the community.Ricca hosted a Coffee and Conversation on Tuesday which drew 50 parents, students, and community members. The meetings are being held to encourage communication with the district. Cancer Battle Sidelines North Rockland High School Football Coach ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Tom Lynch, the coach of the North Rockland Red Raiders football team, is expected to miss the season after being diagnosed with kidney cancer. Lynch was diagnosed in August before practice began and will have an organ removed on Sept. 18 according to lohud.. He has coached the team since 2011.
