Ray Liotta, Union Native, Receives Posthumous Emmy Nomination Ray Liotta, who grew up in Union Township, is continuing to receives accolades more than a year after his passing. Liotta received a Primetime Emmy nomination in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for his work on the TV show "Black Bird" it was announced on Wednesday, July 12. Liotta died of a heart attack last May while filming a movie in the Dominican Republic. Rats Overtaking Hoboken: Let The Dogs Out A section of Hoboken has been taken over by rats. The city has been dealing with a rat surge on 15th Street, after dozens were spotted near an exposed trash area by 1500 Garden St, Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher said. The rats have migrated to other areas on 15th Street, looking for accessible food sources, Fisher said. Fisher said she called in dogs from R.A.T.S. (Ryders Alley Trench Fed Society), a New York City based organization that trains terriers to kill rats to help deal with the problem. 'Edgewater Needed Something A Little Different': New Tapas Restaurant Opens Oggi Domani, a Hoboken native, has become quite the North Jersey restauranteur. Domani, who owns three other restaurants in the area, recently opened Bonita by the River, a restaurant specializing in Spanish European cuisine and tapas at 190 River Road in Edgewater. Downed Wires Close Lanes At Holland Tunnel Downed wires forced all southbound lanes on Marin Boulevard between 14th Street and 12th Street in Jersey City at the Holland Tunnel to close, the Port Authority said in a tweet on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 11. Northbound lanes have reopened, the Port Authority tweeted. It is unclear how long the southbound lanes will be closed for.

$15,000 Worth Of Items Snatched While Homeowner Away: Montclair PD A man who returned to Montclair after two weeks out of state was in for a rude awakening, authorities said. On Monday, July 10, a man reported to police that when he returned to his home on Park Street, he discovered his home had been burglarized, with $15,000 worth of items taken, officers said. The burglar entered the home by force through a basement bathroom window, police said. The burglar then proceeded to rummage through the home, and took jewelry, purses and gold coins, police said.

NJ Police Officer Fighting Cancer Won't Do It Alone Mark Steinberg, recently sworn in as a police officer in Verona, is in for the fight of his life. And the community is rallying to his side. Steinberg, 23, was recently was diagnosed with a rare form of sarcoma cancer. A fundraiser has been created by the Verona PBA to assist him and his family with any expenses. As of Tuesday, July 11, more than $73,500 has been raised. Steinberg went to the emergency room in May suffering from mild back pain and a fever. Two Arrested For Stealing Car, Stealing Handgun: Linden PD Two Newark residents were arrested in Linden on Thursday, July 6 for driving a stolen car and possessing a stolen handgun, police said. At 8 p.m., officers were alerted to a report of a stolen vehicle traveling south on Route 1, Captain Christopher Guenther of the Linden Police said.
