Carlstadt Students Jump Rope For Charity CARLSTADT, N.J. — Carlstadt Public School is participating in "Jump Rope For Heart" to help raise money for the American Heart Association. On Feb. 11 and 12, students will jump rope in gym class to help learn about heart health.  Students will be taught the importance of being active for 60 minutes everyday, the dangers of tobacco, sodium, and sugary, drinks, and the benefits of colorful foods. Volunteers Aim To Save Rutherford Performing Arts Center RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Hundreds of local volunteers are trying to raise funds to help save the William Carlos Williams Center for the Arts in Rutherford.  The group is looking to lease three digital movie projectors which would allow the Center to show newer movies which are formatted for high tech projectors, said Matthew Rossi, a Rutherford father who is helping lead the fundraising effort. Paramus Garden State Plaza Shuts Carousel PARAMUS, N.J. — For the first time in 24 years, there will be no carousel at the Paramus Garden State Plaza.  The carousel officially closed on Sat., Jan. 30 after its lease expired. In place of the carousel, Westfield has entered into a partnership with the Bergen Performing Arts Center in Englewood to use the space vacated by the carousel to promote the arts within the community, Westfield Marketing Manager Melissa Koronakis said.
