Loud Booming Sounds In Fair Lawn Still A Mystery
FAIR LAWN, N.J. — Folks in Fair Lawn were still trying to figure out Friday what made the loud noises being heard around town at night over the previous week. Police say they have received several calls about the loud noise since Sunday, but have so far been unable to pinpoint the source. "We don't know, but there hasn't been any damage an…

Glen Rock Man Promotes Pedestrian Safety With LED Wristbands
GLEN ROCK, N.J. — A Glen Rock man wants to keep local pedestrians safe when they are walking at night by providing them with LED flashing armbands to wear. Jay Shapiro placed a bulk order for the armbands after hearing about a 62-year old resident who was struck by a car while crossing Rock Road Wednesday evening. "This is luckily not a common occurrence, but Glen Rock is a pretty dark place at night," Shapiro told Daily Voice. "Maybe someday we'll be able to install more street lights, but that costs a lot of taxpayer money and causes substantial light pollution." Th…

Fair Lawn Police: Blown Transformers Could Be Causing Those Loud Bangs
FAIR LAWN, N.J. — Loud banging noises being heard around Fair Lawn over the past week could be coming from a power substation across the river in Paterson, authorities said. Patrol officers confirmed that a blown transformer caused a loud bang to reverberate across the west side of Fair Lawn on Sunday night, Fair Lawn Police Sgt. Brian Metzler told Daily Voice, adding that he wouldn't be surprised if it's continuing. "Whenever there is a loud noise in Paterson it always drifts into Fair Lawn," the sergeant said Thursday.
