Jon graduated from Cornell University and received his master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Across a 35-year career, he's worked as a reporter for daily newspapers in Chicago, New York, Ohio & Washington, D.C and as managing editor for weekly newspapers in Rye, White Plains and Harrison.

Jon also writes periodically for the Cornell Chronicle.

Police Rule Thornwood House Fire As 'Accidental' This story has been updated. Residents of a house near Four Corners at Marble Avenue and Broadway in Thornwood said police suspected an overnight house fire on Sunday, April 8 as being intentionally set.  But Mount Pleasant Lt. Mike Pierce said on Monday, April 9 that the 83 Franklin Ave. fire was ruled accidental, and fortunately no one was hurt.  Residents will have to find other lodging, however, Pierce said.  Check back to Daily Voice for updates.

Vehicle Stolen In Easton During the overnight hours from April 6 to April 7, one vehicle was entered and another was stolen, according to Easton Police. Both of these vehicles were not damaged as they were unlocked with keys inside.  both incidents occurred in the Vista Drive and Wood End Drive area off Rock House Road. Easton police said, ?Please remember to lock your vehicles, remove all valuables and immediately report suspicious activity."

Opening Date Now Scheduled For Chappaqua Whole Foods Whole Foods has set a target date of Wednesday, Nov. 7 for its grand opening at Chappaqua Crossing, according to New Castle Supervisor Robert Greenstein. 200 Layoffs Proposed In Yonkers, Including Police, Firefighters Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano warns that about 200 city workers may be laid off due to a $31 budget shortfall. $35.3M Returned To 36,446 NY Wage-Theft Victims, Cuomo Says More than $35 million was returned to 36,446 victims of wage theft last year, according to Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
