Jon graduated from Cornell University and received his master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Across a 35-year career, he's worked as a reporter for daily newspapers in Chicago, New York, Ohio & Washington, D.C and as managing editor for weekly newspapers in Rye, White Plains and Harrison.

Port Chester Attempts Second Bond Vote For $11M Middle School Repairs Port Chester schools are giving it another try, proposing an $11 million bond issue for major repairs at the district's middle school. In February, by only 53 votes, residents of the Port Chester-Rye Union Free School District narrowly defeated a $12.5 million renovation project with most of the work planned at Port Chester Middle School. The second vote is 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5 in the middle school gymnasium.  A total of 940 residents voted for the project and 993 voted against it on Feb. 6, as reported here by Daily Voice.

Connecticut State Police Purchase 800 Body Cams Connecticut State Police troopers will be wearing body camera's later this year. About 800 body cameras will be distributed this summer, state police said on Tuesday, May 29. The state said it received a grant for $895,000 from the U.S. Justice Department to help offset the cost of the new body cameras. Connecticut's state police commander Colonel George Battle has said all troopers will be wearing body cams by the end of the 2018.
