Jon graduated from Cornell University and received his master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Across a 35-year career, he's worked as a reporter for daily newspapers in Chicago, New York, Ohio & Washington, D.C and as managing editor for weekly newspapers in Rye, White Plains and Harrison.

Jon also writes periodically for the Cornell Chronicle.

Shock, Sadness Spread After Woman Slain In Atlantic County A 30-year-old woman was fatally shot overnight in Atlantic County, authorities said. Jazmen Martin-Richardson, 30, was found suffering from a gunshot wound on the 1000 block of Iowa Avenue, Pleasantville on Monday, May 23, according to Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Cary Shill. Man, 29, Arrested In Fatal Shooting Caught On Video In Central Jersey: Prosecutor A 29-year-old man from Central Jersey has surrendered to police in the fatal daytime shooting of another man in his car last week.  Yhakeem Kornegay, 29, of Carteret turned himself in on Sunday, May 22, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Carteret Police Chief Dennis McFadden. Kornegay was charged with murder, attempted murder and weapons charges, they said. Malik Pandy, 27, of Carteret was killed in the shooting. There were six fire boats from local fire agencies actively fighting the fire. Motorist Hits Trees In Deadly South Jersey Crash: State Police A driver from South Jersey was killed when he lost control of his car and struck some trees, authorities said. The Tesla Model S caught fire after crossing the center line and driving off the roadway to the left in the single-car crash, according to a New Jersey State Police spokeswoman. Daniel Sincavage, 41, of Rio Grande, was driving northbound on Route 47 at milepost 27.7 in Maurice River Township at 10:42 p.m. on Thursday, May 19 when the crash occurred, she said. A 40-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries, she said. The crash remains under investigation.

The crash occurred at about 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 20 at the Interchange 9 exit from the outer roadway to the toll plaza, a New Jersey State Police spokesman said.
