WalletHub released its 2026 list of the Most Fun States in America on Tuesday, Aug. 18. A shelf-stable specialty food recall is reaching kitchens across the country after a federal safeguard was missed.
The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced on Monday, Aug. 17, that Indus Foods LLC, doing business as Gangothri Foods, is recalling about 1,626 pounds of ready-to-eat pickled goat and chicken products.
The Austin, Texas, company produced the food without the benefit of federal inspection. The affected jars do not carry a USDA mark of inspection.

An Albany teenager was busted with a loaded ghost gun in a city park, authorities said.
Amir X Harrell, 18, was spotted loitering in a park at Ontario Street near Madison Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, the Albany Police Department said.
Cops approached Harrell and cited him for being in the park after posted hours, but during the investigation they found him holding a loaded handgun, authorities said.

A pagan religious leader in New York admitted Monday, Aug. 17 that he traveled to the Capital District to sexually abuse two underage boys, authorities said.
James Yerdon, 56, pleaded guilty to first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child and faces 20 years in prison, the Albany County District Attorney’s office said.
Yerdon, of Adams Center (Jefferson County), also pleaded guilty to possession of child porn in federal court earlier this year and could be looking at several decades behind bars, according to authorities.

A Capital Region man has been arrested for sexually assaulting a girl under age 15, authorities revealed Monday, Aug. 17.
Julian Lloyd, 31, of Albany, was charged with second- and third-degree aggravated sexual abuse, first-degree sexual abuse, and child endangerment, the Albany County District Attorney’s office said.
Lloyd met the girl at 479 State Street in Albany around 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 7 and sexually assaulted her, investigators said. New York State Police looked into the allegations against Lloyd and arrested him Wednesday, Aug. 12, according to prosecutors.

Lawyers for Ahmed Hemedan, 20, of Albany, requested the exam at his arraignment Monday, Aug. 17, and a judge agreed, local NBC affiliate WNYT reported.
