Cross River Native Provides Women's Health Care Across Globe Via Nonprofit LEWISBORO, N.Y. – Former Cross River resident Maggie Carpenter is helping to change the system of women’s health in developing countries with her nonprofit GoDocGo, which sends doctors to other countries to train physicians on how to effectively treat women’s health issues, reports the Lewisboro Ledger. Carpenter was inspired to create the nonprofit after a 2011 trip to Ethiopia, where she learned that the hospital didn’t provide pap smears for women and didn’t provide treatment or preventive procedures for cervical cancer, according to the report.
