An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Atria Senior Living in Briarcliff Manor held a World Gratitude Event that took place on Sept. 21. The effort was part of the ‘GoGrateful’ campaign, during which residents from Atria Senior Living communities across the U.S. and Canada demonstrated their appreciation.  Briarcliff Manor residents manned "appreciation stations" including free hugs and (chocolate) kisses, "go grateful" bracelets were given out and residents, staff and visitors wrote thank you cards to soldiers. …

Treble Makers Perform At Paramount With Daisy Jopling PEEKSKILL, N.Y.-- The Treble Makers had the performance of a lifetime. Hendrick Hudson High School’s advanced singing group took the stage at Paramount Hudson Valley in Peekskill on Sept. 24, along with  classical/rock violinist Daisy Jopling.  Billed as “The Awakening Show,” the performance featured an 80-piece orchestra comprised of student and professional musicians. Woody Allen Series Produced In Briarcliff Premieres BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. -- Briarcliff residents will get to see their village on the small screen starting Friday. Woody Allen's new TV show, "Crisis In Six Scenes," that he filmed earlier this year in Briarcliff is premiering on Amazon Prime Friday. Allen filmed at a house at 508 Scarborough Road for three weeks in the spring. The show, which is set in the 1960s, stars Miley Cyrus, Allen and Elaine May. Lakeland High School Senior Honored As Commended Student SHRUB OAK, N.Y. -- Daniel Delayo, a Lakeland High School senior,  was named a Commended Student in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program. Commended students are named on the basis of a nationally applied Selection Index score that may vary from year to year. More than two-thirds (about 34,000) of the approximately 50,000 high scorers on the PSAT/NMSQT receive Letters of Commendation in recognition of their outstanding academic promise.

Hen Hud Concert Benefits Breast Cancer Foundation MONTROSE, N.Y. -- Cindy Alexander will perform an acoustic concert at Hendrick Hudson High School next Thursday to promote cancer awareness and support the Breast Cancer Foundation.  The concert will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the high school auditorium, and the suggested donation is $10 to $20. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the foundation. Alexander has performed on stage with Suzanne Vega, America, Rick Springfield, Marc Cohn and The Bacon Brothers. Alexander’s music has earned her Los Angeles Music Awards for Songwriter of the Year and Independent Pop Album of the Year.

Port Chester Dog Park Celebrates One Year Anniversary PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- The Village of Port Chester went to the dogs Saturday. Literally. The town's first dog park, at Abendroth Park, celebrated its one year anniversary. The day featured a proclamation from the village and 13 vendors including two rescue groups. Village residents including dog walkers had sought an exclusive area for pets for more than three years. Children's Room Dedicated To Longtime Kent Volunteer KENT, N.Y. -- Friends and family of Wilma Baker gathered at the Kent Public Library on Sept. 10 to dedicate the library's children's room to her memory.  Baker helped found the Kent Literary Association, which  later became the Kent Public Library. She was also a co-founder of the Kent Recycling center.   A party on Sept. 11 at the Kent Cliffs Fire House celebrated the anniversary of the Kent Recycling center and raised money for books and other materials for the new Wilma M. Baker Children's Room.

Ossining Seniors Show Gratitude To First Responders OSSINING, N.Y. -- Seniors at Atria on the Hudson visited Ossining first responders last Wednesday with  gifts to thank them for all of their hard work, sacrifice, and dedication everyday keeping us safe. The seniors visited the Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps, the Ossining Fire Department, and the Ossining Police Department. Christopher Rubow, 25, of Florida, Formerly Of Ossining OSSINING, N.Y. -- Christopher Charles Rubow, of Gainesville, Fla., formerly of Ossining, N.Y., died Sept. 16. He was 25. Rubow spent the first 16 years of his life with his family in Ossining.
