An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

J. Edward Burguiere, Jr., 84, Ossining OSSINING, N.Y. -- J. Edward Burguiere, Jr. a longtime resident of Ossining passed away Thursday, March 30. Eddie was born in Ossining on August 4, 1932, and was the son of the late Julius Edward and Mary (Johnson) Burguiere. He was 84. Burguiere attended Ossining schools and was a longtime mechanic at Sleepy Hollow Country Club. He was a member of the Ossining Fire Department, Monitor Hose Co. No. 4 for over 50 years. Donald Trump Jr. Eyes Run For NY Governor, Report Says Like father, like son? Donald Trump Jr., eldest son of President Donald Trump, said he is interested in running for office, such as governor of New York. Trump, Jr., who actively campaigned for his father, made the announcement at a Tuesday meeting of a gun club in Hicksville on Long Island. Yorktown Hires Search Firm For Next Superintendent YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- A search firm has been hired to find the next Superintendent of the Yorktown School District. Superintendent Dr. Raph Napolitano announced his retirement back in March after 11 years of leading the district, effective at the end of the school year. The search firm has begun to solicit candidates and review credentials, according to the district. There is no leading candidate and no interviews have been held, the district said. Yorktown Man Climbs Mount Kilimanjaro With His Brother Two brothers recently had the adventure of a lifetime. Chris Berlow, a Yorktown resident and his brother John, a Peekskill resident, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, in March. The climb helped raise $100,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, which is headquartered in Rye. Climbing Kilimanjaro took six days to get up and two days to get back down. The Berlows jumped at the chance the second they heard of the opportunity. White Plains Tabs Elmsford's Ricca As New Superintendent WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- The White Plains Board of Education announced Wednesday Joseph Ricca is its choice to be the district's new superintendent. Ricca has been superintendent of the Elmsford Union Free School District for the last four years. Peekskill School District Warns Of Sports Schedule Scam PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- The Peekskill School District said Wednesday a telephone scam has been targeting local residents and businesses. The scam is an attempt to solicit donations for the "Peekskill High School Fall Sports Schedule Poster," the district said. The district said the individuals involved are not associated with the school and no such cause exists. The district asked that anyone contacted about this does not give out any personal information.

SPCA Interviews Woman Who Abandoned Cat In Bedford This story has been updated. BEDFORD, N.Y. -- The SPCA said Friday it has met with the woman seen in surveillance footage leaving a severely neglected cat in a Bedford parking lot. Lisa Bonanno, director of events and communications for the SPCA, said the investigation remains ongoing. Two Men Found With Heroin In Kent, Police Say KENT, N.Y. -- Two men were arrested in Kent after police found them to be in possession of heroin late last month. Christian Breslin, 37, and Douglas McLaughlin, 52, both residents of Newburgh, were arrested following a traffic stop on March 28 and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree and Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument.
