Yorktown Teen Grabs Throat, Steals Property From Woman, Police Say YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- A Yorktown teen was arrested and charged with two misdemeanors following a domestic incident Tuesday. Ryan Thomas, 19, was arrested and charged with Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, a Class A Misdemeanor and Petit Larceny, a Class A Misdemeanor after police allege he grabbed the throat of the victim and stole property from her. Thomas voluntarily turned himself where he was released on his own recognizance and is due back in court on June 13. A temporary order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim.

Indian Point Sirens Will Sound At Full Volume During Test Don't be alarmed if you hear sirens Wednesday.Indian Point Energy Center in Buchanan is conducting a quarterly test of its emergency notification sirens on Wednesday between 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. As part of this test, sirens will sound at full-volume for approximately four minutes in Westchester, Rockland, Orange, and Putnam counties, according to Entergy, who runs Indian Point. Because this is only a test, the public is not required to respond during the siren sounding.

An 8-week old kitten was rescued Monday after spending five days in a drain pipe outside of an Edgemont home. Stephanie Balkin first heard the kittens frightened meows on Thursday but the kitten refused to leave the drain. "It just wouldn't come out," Balkin said. Applebee's Closes After 20 Years In Mount Kisco MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- After 20 years, the Applebee's in Mount Kisco has closed its doors. The restaurant, located at 185 North Bedford Road, closed on May 23. Urban Edge Properties, which owns the property, expressed interest in repurposing the space with multiple tenants including a Starbucks with a drive-through window at an April 17 village board meeting. Drive through windows are currently prohibited in Mount Kisco.  In Westchester, Applebee's has locations in Hawthorne, White Plains, Mohegan Lake and Yonkers.

Multiple Erratic Driving Reports Lead To DWI Charge In Yorktown YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- A man was arrested and charged with DWI Saturday after Yorktown Police received multiple reports of an erratic driver on Saw Mill River Road. Darryl T. Nemeth, 55, from Palm Bay, FL,  was arrested and charged with DWI and Aggravated DWI, both misdemeanors after police said they located his vehicle at 345 Kear Street.  Nemeth was released on $200 bail to a responsible party, police said. He is due back in court on June 8 at 6 p.m.

Walter Panas Choir Wins Gold CORTLANDT MANOR, N.Y. -- The Walter Panas High School Chamber Choir went for the gold last week.The choir won a Level 6 Gold Rating at the NYSSMA Major Festival on May 23. Level 6 is the highest level that NYSSMA has designated for choirs. This is the first time the choir received a gold ranking.
