To The Editor: In the piece announcing my run for NYSenate district 40, it suggests I called for approval of single-payer healthcare. I called for hearings, so New Yorkers could determine if this was best for the citizens. This has passed the Assembly 3 times and our state has to take some action. If the anti-New York tax legislation passes in DC, our healthcare will no longer be deductible, on top of mortgage interest, state and local taxes no longer being deduc…

To the Editor: I voted against renaming the Tappan Zee Bridge earlier this year and I remain opposed to it today. In typical Albany fashion, the name change was sneaked into an omnibus bill in the middle of the night while the rest of the state was fast asleep during what’s referred to as an “extraordinary” session of the state legislature. Not only does this abrupt change in name dishonor the legacy of Governor Wilson; it also ignores, as my predecessor Will Steph…

With the absentee votes now counted, the final tally shows that of 2967 ballots cast, Bill Gouldman received 1440 (53%) and Anthony Williams received 1253 (46%). Mr. Gouldman’s surprising response to these numbers was to indicate that “the voters spoke, and spoke loudly” in support of him. Really? If I held a position working for 100 people, and 46 of them wanted me removed, I’d be mortified. Mr. Gouldman claims his 53% is a mandate, and notes that his victory comes…

What do the other op eds have? Opinions derived from things they read on Facebook. It’s time to liste…
