Street Racers Surround Jersey City Police, Dent Patrol Car Jersey City Police had to call for backup while attempting to break up a meetup of street racers in the early morning of Sunday, April 30. Police arrived to 150 Industrial Drive and attempted to disperse the crowd of people, Kimberly Wallace-Scalfione, a spokeswoman for the mayor's office said. The crowd refused to leave and began climbing onto the patrol car, leaving a dent on the hood, Wallace-Scalfione said. Bunny Abandoned In NJ Junkyard Beats The Odds JJ the bunny's story of survival is a true miracle. JJ was found abandoned in a junkyard, looking for help. A Good Samaritan attempted to feed him, but the bunny became ill and stopped eating. The Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge in Oakland stepped into help and took him in. The bunny's maladies were extensive. Asthma Attack Kills North Jersey Native Samuel Cobar, 22 Samuel Cobar never let his asthma stop him from chasing his dreams, according to a fundraiser set up after his passing. The West Orange native's asthma, however, is ultimately what killed him, those who knew him said. "That then led our loving brother, son and best friend to have a life-threatening asthma attack while he was alone in his apartment, which had left him unconscious without oxygen for 50 mins," the campaign says. Liberty Science Center High School Breaks Ground In Jersey City A new Jersey City high school devoted to STEM education held a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday, May 1. Liberty Science Center High School is set to open in 2025. The public magnet STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) school will be operated by the Hudson County Schools of Technology. 'Islamophobia': NJ Muslim Mayor Barred From White House Outrage spread through New Jersey's Muslim communities after one town's Muslim mayor was banned from attending an Eid-al-Fitr ceremony this week at the White House. West New York Teen Sexually Abused 12-Year-Old: Prosecutors A 19-year-old West New York man was charged with committing sex crimes on a 12-year-old girl, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced. Marcus Quexordon was arrested on Monday, May 1, Suarez said. The incident occurred on Saturday, April 29, Suarez said. The victim is known to Quexordon, Suarez said. Quexordon was charged with sexual assault in the second degree and endangering the welfare of a child in the third degree. He was transported to Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.
