An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. Bayonne Man Charged In Jersey City Fatal Hit-and-Run A 25-year-old Bayonne man was arrested on Monday, May 8 and charged with a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred in Jersey City in March, authorities said. Arley Ulloa struck Ralph Haynes, a 55-year-old Jersey City resident, with his vehicle at Stegman Avenue and Garfield Avenue, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Man Fought, Spat On North Bergen PD A 36-year-old North Bergen man was arrested and charged after he fought with police officers and spit on them, authorities said. Jayson Sanchez was in a verbal dispute with another man at 8600 Columbia Ave when officers arrived on scene on Saturday, May 6, police said. Twenty Displaced Following Three Jersey City Fires Firefighters had a busy Sunday, May 8, in Jersey City, with three different residential fires displacing 20 people, authorities said. Jersey City firefighters were first called to 150 New York Ave. at 1:44 p.m. for a two-alarm fire in a three-story three-family residential structure, Kimberly Wallace-Scalfione, a spokeswoman for the mayor's office said. Nabisco Implosion Called Off Completely Amid public outcry, the company behind plans to implode the shuttered Nabisco factory in Fair Lawn is reversing course. Greek Development, which is redeveloping the property, sent out a statement Monday, May 8, and said the building will not be imploded.
