An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

NJ Voters To Sen. Menendez: Resign New Jersey residents have a very unfavorable view of Bob Menendez. A Stockton University poll found just eight percent of New Jersey residents support Menendez, who was recently indicted on federal bribery charges, along with his wife, Nadine. The poll found more than 71 percent said he should resign, and only eight percent want him to remain in office. The call for his resignation was bipartisan, with 78 percent of Democrats and 79 percent of Republicans in support. The couple has denied the allegations in the indictment. Elizabeth Man Sexually Assaulted Teen: Authorities A 78-year-old Elizabeth man was arrested and charged with committing sexual offenses against a child on Friday, Oct. 20, authorities said. Neil Rosenstein sexually assaulted a 15-year-old child in summer 2015, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel, Elizabeth Police Director Earl Graves, and Elizabeth Police Chief Giacomo Sacca said. Elizabeth police began an investigation in Oct. 2022, authorities said. Rosenstein was arrested at Newark Liberty International Airport after arriving on a flight from out of the country. Three Arrested After Bayonne Shooting: Police Two teenagers were arrested after shooting at each other in Bayonne on Saturday, Oct. 21, authorities said. At 5:39 p.m., police responded to 19th Street and Avenue C on a report of shots fired, officers said. Police determined Raquan Harvey, an 18-year-old Bayonne resident and a 17-year-old Flemington resident were shooting at each other, officers said. When police arrested Harvey, they recovered a .45 caliber handgun loaded with hollow point bullets, officers said. Jack's Cafe, Replaced By Popular Hot Dog Spot In Westwood, Returns As Pop-Up Jack's is making a comeback. Jack's Cafe, the Westwood staple that closed after 16 years, is returning as a pop-up restaurant at B & M Meat Market at 146 Kinderkamack Road in Park Ridge on Saturday, Nov. 4. The restaurant will be takeout only and open Saturday through Tuesday. The cafe, which closed in 2022, was replaced by 1950 Originals, a hot dog eatery owned by the grandson of Callahan's. Jack's had planned a popup event at Luna's Outdoor Bar and Grille in Vineland last month but was forced to cancel.

Stolen Heirlooms Returned After Hackensack Restaurant Closes After 30+ Years All's well that ends well at The Crow's Nest in Hackensack. The restaurant said family heirlooms that were taken from the restaurant on Saturday, Oct. 21, the night it closed its doors, have been returned. False Bomb Threat At Newark School: Police A false bomb threat was phoned into BRICK Avon Academy in Newark on Monday, Oct. 23, police said. Police responded to the school at 1 p.m., Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. Police, along with the Essex County Sherriff's Office K-9 unit conducted a sweep of the building and determined the call was false, Fragé said. The incident remains under investigation, Fragé said.

Man Sitting In Roadway Fatally Struck By Vehicle In Elizabeth: Police A man sitting in the roadway was fatally struck by a vehicle in Elizabeth on Tuesday, Oct. 24 police said. In the middle of the night, police initially received a call about a man sitting in the roadway on Newark Avenue and then later received a call about the same person being struck, Ruby Contreras of the Elizabeth Police Department said. The man was pronounced dead at Trinitas Regional Medical Center, Contreras said.
