Plane Makes Hard Landing In Newbury, But Pilot Walks Away Without Serious Injury A pilot walked away from a hard landing in Newburyport on Wednesday, Aug. 31, that left his plane broken on a runway at Plum Island Airport. The 1949 Navion single-piston propeller plane hit hard as it landed just after 11 a.m. and ended up nose down on the runway, the Newbury Fire Department said. The pilot climbed out on his own and declined any medical help after paramedics checked him out. None of the airport ground crew were injured. DA Vote Boston city councilor Ricardo Arroyo lost some key endorsements this week after one of the women who accused him of sexual assault as a teenager said his candidacy for Suffolk County District Attorney made her "sick." Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and Massachusetts Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey pulled their support of the challenger in the race. Bomb Hoax At Boston Children's Hospital Comes As Facility Is Under Attack A bomb threat Tuesday night, Aug. 30, sent Children's Hospital into panic as the facility went into lockdown, and bomb squads scoured the building for any potentially explosive material. Firefighter Hospitalized Battling 2-Alarm Blaze In Wakefield, Family Displaced A two-alarm blaze destroyed a home in Wakefield Tuesday morning and displaced a family of four. A firefighter was taken to the hospital while battling the flames as well. The fire at 22 Jackson Lane started just after 11, the Wakefield Fire Department said, though officials did not release the cause of it. Heavy smoke billowed out of the two-story home, and flames had eaten away at the back of it when crews arrived on the scene. Boston Man Busted When He Goes Back To Get His Gun: Police A Boston man ended up in handcuffs after he left his gun on an MBTA trolley earlier this week and got busted after he spoke to police about getting it back, authorities said. Arnoldo Lemus, 20, left his bookbag on the platform of the Copley Square Station in Back Bay early Sunday morning, Aug. 28, after he boarded a trolley, transit police said. Ex-Mass Lawyer Get Years In Prison, Must Repay Millions He Ripped Off From Clients: Feds A former Hyannis attorney who was stealing from his clients and ripping off banks must repay the millions he stole once he gets out of prison, federal authorities said. His wife will be joining him in jail as well. Barry Wayne Plunkett Jr., 62, pleaded guilty to five counts of bank fraud, one count of aggravated identity theft, and one count of tax evasion, the US Attorney's Office said. Speeding Ticket Leads To Gun Bust For Boston Men Already Facing Weapons Charges: DA A simple speeding ticket landed two Boston men in prison after police said they caught them with guns despite already facing multiple weapons charges.
