Woman Stabbed With Needle-Nosed Pliers In Front Of Western Mass Police Office: DA Hampshire County police didn't need a 911 call or search dogs to find a woman in need on Thursday, Oct. 19. They just needed to open their ears. Russell Scott Mayo, of Ware, faces several felonies after he allegedly attacked a woman across the street from the Northampton Police Department, the Northampton District Attorney said. Haverhill Man Charged With Slaying In Lawrence Agrees To No Bail: DA A 36-year-old Essex man is accused of killing a man and leaving him on a Lawrence sidewalk with a fatal head wound, authorities said. Kristopher Graciale was charged with murder on Thursday, Oct. 19, and voluntarily agreed to be held without bail, the Essex County District Attorney said. He pleaded not guilty to the charge. Police believe Graciale attacked Nathan Mucci on Oct. 8. Paramedics found Mucci on the sidewalk of Chandler Street in Lawrence unresponsive and bleeding from a "significant" head wound. Lottery Jackpot: Man Wins $10K A Month For 10 Years In Central Mass Randy Whitney of Spencer just earned a six-figure salary for the next 10 years from the Massachusetts State Lottery. Whitney will receive a monthly stipend of $10,000. Whitney chose to take the first year's prize money in a lump sum — $120,000 before taxes. He won playing the "Decade of Dollars," a $5 scratch-off ticket game. Whitney purchased the winning ticket at Xpress Mart at 94 Main St. in Spencer. The store will receive a $12,000 bonus for selling the lucky ticket.

Guns, Ammo Arsenal Found In Drunk Driver's Crashed Car In Western Mass: Police Drunk, high, and armed to the teeth. That's how Massachusetts State Police described a Connecticut woman they arrested Thursday, Oct. 19, after she crashed her car into another vehicle in Hampden County while intoxicated. Catherine Hansen, 45, of Enfield, Connecticut, faces a slew of charges after police said they found a pistol and hundreds of rounds of ammunition in her wrecked car in Agawam, authorities said. SUV Crashes Into, Kills Woman Walking In Malden: DA A pedestrian was killed Thursday, Oct. 19, after a BMW SUV crashed into another vehicle before hitting the woman as she stood on the sidewalk, Middlesex County, authorities said. The initial wreck happened at the intersection of Mountain Avenue and Main Street in Malden when the BMW slammed into a stopped SUV at a traffic light, the Middlesex District Attorney said. Grover St. Fatal Fire: 'Person Of Interest' Sought By Springfield Police A fatal fire in Springfield early Monday morning, Oct. 16, may have been intentionally set. Springfield police are asking for people who live in the area near the blaze to check their cameras for a specific person seen walking away from the scene. The fire at 118 Grover Street in Springfield began around 5 a.m. on the front porch beneath the bedroom of Janayrah "Nany" Rivera, 18, Springfield police said. 2 Children Poured Acid On Slides, Injured 4 Other Kids At Western Mass Park: DA Two minors have been charged with pouring muriatic acid on slides in Hampden County and injuring multiple children, authorities said. Police said the juveniles poured the toxic material on the slides at Bliss Park in Longmeadow on June 11. Four children who played on them later were burned by the caustic substance. An investigation found that the juveniles had stolen muriatic acid from the pool's pump room at the park and poured it on three slides. Woman Raped After Getting Into Car She Thought Was An Uber In Boston: DA A woman told Boston police she got the ride from hell when she accidentally got into a car she believed was her Uber on Saturday, Oct. 14, and the driver raped her, authorities said. Rite Aid Will Close Stores In Mass, Connecticut After Filing For Bankruptcy Rite Aid, the pharmacy giant that filed for bankruptcy on Sunday, Oct. 15, plans to close 154 underperforming stores nationwide, according to a new filing.
