Before settling into the Hudson Valley, Zak! previously spent time in the New York Daily News newsroom and worked for hyperlocal digital news outlets on Long Island. He wrote sports for The Ithacan and The Ithaca Journal before taking his talents to the Pacific Northwest, where he served as the sports editor at the Shoshone News-Press until heading back east to work with Daily Voice.

Family Dealt Fresh Blow Following Fatal Shooting Of Bowie Father A Maryland family is reeling once again after losing another loved one to violence, this time in Prince George's County. Bowie resident Jakel Stone, 34, leaves behind a teen son after he was shot to death in Landover over the holiday weekend. According to the Prince George's County Police Department, officers were called on Saturday, Aug. 31, where they found Stone in the 6900 block of Hawthorne Street suffering from gunshot wounds in a parking lot. One Airlifted To Hospital After Construction Site Injury In Joppa A construction worker in Harford County suffered serious injuries and had to be airlifted to an area hospital after falling out of a truck and into the foundation of a home in Joppa. First responders were called before noon on Tuesday, Sept. 3 to the 1400 block of Philadelphia Road, where there was a reported injury at the construction site with a possibly unstable truck at the scene. Toyota Recalling 43K Hybrid Vehicles Due To Faulty Tow Hitch Covers Tens of thousands of Toyota SUVs are subject to a sizeable recall due to a faulty tow hitch cover that may increase the possibility of a crash, officials say.
