Mink Farm Outbreak Raises Alarm Over Potential Human Pandemic Threat A bird flu outbreak on a US fur farm is raising alarm over a threat that could reach far beyond its cages. A ProPublica investigation published Friday, Oct. 23, found that H5N1 had spread for more than two months at Utah’s C&T Fenn Farms, located about an hour south of Salt Lake City. During that time, officials declined to order the mink killed or actively monitor workers for infection, the report said.
