East Rutherford Teacher's Union, BOE Inch Closer To New Contract EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- After two mediation sessions that each ran late into the night, the East Rutherford Education Association (EREA) and Board of Education are hoping to schedule a third session sooner rather than later. Association President Lisa Fallon told the Daily Voice she hoped a deal finally will be agreed upon for the teachers, secretaries, and support staff who've been withotut a contract since June. Brian Fitzhenry Tapped As North Arlington Fire Chief NORTH ARLINGTON, N.J. — Brian Fitzhenry will serve as North Arlington Fire Chief in 2016, succeeding Chief John Inzinna.  The North Arlington Fire Department voted FitzHenry in at their December 5 open board meeting. Robert Kairys and Jeff Nichols were also voted in as assistant chief and deputy chief, respectively.  The newly-elected officers will be sworn in at the North Arlington re-organization meeting the first week of January.

Ridgewood Special Disabilities Cheerleading Program Launches In January RIDGEWOOD, N.J — Ridgewood is launching a new "Dream Team" cheerleading program for children with disabilities.  The program is was created by Allstar Cheerleader and RIdgewood Girl Scout Sarah Bradley, who runs Sharing The Arts, a 501(c)3 non-profit preforming arts program. It will meet once a week every Wednesday in January (1/6, 1/13, 1/20, 1/27) from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Gym 3 at Ridgewood High School. Lyndhurst Offers Child Wellness Clinic For Uninsured LYNDHURST, N.J. — Lyndhurst will hold this month's free, children's health clinic at the Health Department on Dec. 9. The clinic runs on the second Wednesday of every month from 9 a.m. to noon. "A nurse practitioner will come in, do a health screening, and give the mandated vaccinations," Lyndhurst Health Coordinator Kristin Collette said.  The federally funded program is for all children up to the age of 18 who are uninsured and medicaid eligible.  The clinic includes a height and weight check as well as examinations of the eyes, ears, lungs, and heart.
