LI Driver, 26, Found Dead Hours After Van Slammed Into Tree And Flipped: Police
A Long Island driver was killed in a one-car crash early Tuesday, Sept. 8, police said.
Matthew Schneider, 26, of Selden, was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Express eastbound on Express Drive South near Maple Avenue in Holbrook around 3:10 a.m., the Suffolk County Police Department said.
Schneider’s vehicle left the road, struck a tree, and overturned, investigators said. However, the wreck wasn’t reported until a passing motorist called 911 around 5:30 a.m., police said.

A Long Island man assaulted a woman, pushed an 8-year-old boy, and injured a 5-year-old girl in the same incident, police said.
Max Beltre, 27, of East Hampton, was charged with third-degree assault and two counts of child endangerment following his arrest around 2:45 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, the East Hampton Police Department said.
At an East Hampton home, Beltre threw a cellphone charger that struck the 5-year-old girl in the face, police said. Beltre then attacked the girl’s mother, first pushing her and then repeatedly slamming a door on her right hand, investigators said.

A Lyft rider pointed an imitation gun at his driver after being dropped off at a home on Long Island, cops said.
Patrick Santos, 34, of New Jersey, took the Lyft from Sag Harbor to a home in Noyac around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, the Southampton Town Police Department said.
On the way, Santos pointed the fake gun out the window of the car and “dry fired” it, police said. Investigators described him as “heavily intoxicated” for the ride.

A Long Island man shoved a 76-year-old woman to the ground during an argument over his dog’s activity, police said.
Michael Kane, 47, of Great Neck, was booked for second-degree assault after the elderly woman was hospitalized, the Nassau County Police Department said.
Kane was walking his dog in Great Neck around 4:15 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7 when he got in a dispute with the woman over his dog running on her lawn, investigators said. Kane then shoved the woman to the ground, cops said.
