The co-owner of a Putnam County school is being remembered as a coach, sports official, community leader, and devoted father after his death following a battle with a rare and aggressive form of leukemia.
Thomas J. “Tom” Courtney, co-owner of Pine Grove Country Day School in Mahopac, died Sunday, Sept. 6, surrounded by his family, according to his obituary and a tribute from the school. He had turned 56 just days earlier.

A Pennsylvania social media influencer who was stabbed while confronting two men he accused of targeting children is now facing charges stemming from the New York brawl, court records show.
Nicholas Attalla, known online as “Niky Sal,” was arrested on Friday, Sept. 4, on charges of third-degree assault, second-degree criminal nuisance, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Attalla, of Erie, was arraigned that day and pleaded not guilty, according to online court records.
