Thank you Mr Melia, Mr Athenas and Mr Marzac for having some common sense in this matter and listening to the people who just don't think this is a reasonable proposal in this economic climate. I don't think it has anything to do with the police department getting preferential treatment. It's just not a good idea. View Comment
I agree that the facility needs to be updated or moved ---to town property! I certainly wouldn't vote for an 8 million dollar project . What happened to the 2 million dollar plan? I thought that was a reasonable expenditure. View Comment
I was young mother working a 3-11 shift at SVH when the snow started to intensify. No one could make it in for 3 days to relieve those on duty. I worked for those 3 days without sleep. When we could finally venture out onto the roads, it was still challenging to drive. It took me almost 2 hours to get home. It was usually a 20 minute drive. I was so exhausted that when I got home I slept for several days. --- Take home lesson, if you don't want to be caught somewhere, don't go out in the first place. This is not a" fun snowstorm" to play outside in. I can't remember exactly when it was, but a child in the local area got accidentally buried in the snow, couldn't be found, and was located near his home, dead, under the snow, after a large search. Poor thing was right near his house. View Comment
I am really impressed with these proposed measures. They are lot more reasonable than putting armed guards in the schools. I wish more people were thinking this way. Gun control limiting assault rifles and making it harder to get guns is more the way to go. The sad reality is though,is that if a disturbed person is hell bent on murdering innocent people, there are more ways than guns. Look at the damage Timothy McVey created with a bomb. Rowanshire, I agree that we should be shopping more locally. I also agree with Ken Couture that the "new" Streetscape discourages people from stopping at local stores. One of the real bad moves was to do away with diagonal parking and expecting people to park in the back of buildings. Has anyone seen the parking in back of some of the buildings? Or trying to enter them from the back? I will admit the parking in back of the Baker Building is more accomodating, but it is on the other end of Church street. This is prohibitive for anyone with mobility problems. Perhaps I pass by at the wrong times of the day, but I never see a lot of foot traffic. It seems to me that there should be some shop local events (and not just at the holidays) and other means of drawing more people in. How about the Chamber of Commerce doing more in this regard? This is so sad. Aubucon has been my go to store my whole adult life. There was great support, the staff knew their products and could advise what to use and could locate the product in seconds. View Comment
Thanks for everyone who answered my post. Nice to get a conversation going. It is our sworn duty to get out there and vote. Sure we agree to disagree, and that is what makes our country so great, that we have the freedom to do this. So, all you apaths out there, THE VOTE IS IMPORTANT! Get out there and vote! View Comment
Economy, medicare, education, illegal immigrants, too many people scaming the entitlement programs. Need a business man to straighten out the mess. So many people hoodwinked by Obama's oratory skills. Too much of a Marxist/ Socialist. Ignores the constitution and makes up his own rules. Especially repugnant is waitning for congress to go home and then sliding in his agenda. Hope they are not fooled again! View Comment
Although Irene has left her earthly cares, she will always be with us with her infectious smile, uprorious laugh, and the 4 pm glass of wine. I visited Irene just about a week ago,, and when I came home I told Harry I thought her spirit was going, although she was lucid and we had a good talk about the old days and our families friendship. She called my mother her best friend which I was pleased to hear as our families have always been so close.--Extended family! Love to you all as you put Irene to rest.
