Is there an operable fire-suppression system covering the foot-print of the above ground acid tank (s)? Isn't it a law through OSHA, that this type of mitigation MUST be present? View Comment
Perhaps, under "normal" circumstances - I would agree that the GURR has a leg to stand on, when it comes to using the federal rights claim - however - this is anything but "normal"..... Not to rehash, but we have water pollution issues, school location problems, and residential property owners who are really fretting over what way this whole thing will go.... Most critical of all, is the fact that this is not just a NIMBY situation - it is a "Bombs in my backyard" scenario..... View Comment
Texas school’s ‘Guardian Plan’ allows teachers to have guns | The Lookout - Yahoo! News
In 2007, a school district in Harrold, Texas, made a controversial decision. It allowed teachers to carry concealed weapons on school grounds to protect students against potential shooters. [Related: Scenes from Newtown, Connecticut] Now, in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary attack in Newtown, Conn., that left 28 dead including 20 children and the [...] View Comment
Owning a weapon, to wit "gun" - is NOT the problem here. Weapons are only a "means to an end" - however interpreted in the owner and/or user's mind. The problem IS that interpretation, which can NOT be dictated or controlled by anyone, except the individual with the weapon. We, as a nation - are approaching this in the wrong way. Yes, I agree - the unthinkable tragedy in Conn. happened, and yes - weapons were involved, but the weapons were just a "means to an end" - for the shooter. We will never know - even if we try and exhaust all possible theories - WHY he did what he did.... Therein, lies the real problem... How in the world can we control the interpretation of "weapon" in everyone's mind? You can't! It is absolutely impossible....So what IS the approach we as a nation should take? MORE EDUCATION! Truthfully, it is the only way we can logically attempt to instill that there are indeed "consequences for our actions" - be them good or bad. GUNS are not the problem - peoples' perceptions of what means to use to accomplish an end....is the problem..... View Comment

UPDATE: Grafton & Upton Railroad Order To Federal Court
by Richard Price and Jennifer Lord Paluzzi
crosswire:
You don't have to go very far to see the effects of an lp facility mishap and the resulting damage. The attached link is an article printed by the Lewiston (Maine) Daily Sun on October 1, 1971 for an incident that happened right next door if MILLBURY. Initial cause was an accidental inginition of a gas tank being filled on a CAMPER. If you want to see the tank involved in the incident, it's behind the present XTRAMART on Rt 146 just south of the Shops at Blackstone Valley shopping center. The tank involved that day was a peanut compared to the ones being moved to Grafton. To have personally witnessed the 30 feet high escaping flame from the fire impinged tank was one of the most dramatic things I have ever encountered. One you wouldn't want to see in a residential area at any cost.

And I quote: "The Grafton & Upton Railroad continues construction at 42 Westborough Road despite a halt of the tank delivery by a U.S. District Judge. Photo Credit: Richard Price." This guy's commercial land development ethics are nill - he appears to not respect authority, and thinks he can do whatever he wants.....Nice neighbor! View Comment
And I quote: "The bulk transfer facility will handle commodities such as corn syrup, plastic pellets and industrial substances." It is the industrial substances that I am concerned about....is there any connection between this project and what is going on in Grafton with the propane project??? View Comment
Our Board of Selectmen should get on record now - that they have formally and in writing - instructed Graftons' Town Manager to start making some very important calls, on behalf of the Town of Grafton.... There is no time to waste, this particular project has just too many negative ramifications (for the Town and its people) - to let it proceed as is - we really need to get in the loop with those who are overseeing this project, before it is up and running! We may not be facing a "Fiscal Cliff", but we certainly are about to take a plunge into the unknown!!! View Comment
Re: Telegram 12/5/2012>>>>>
And I quote: "Mr. Godfrey said the Grafton and Upton terminal is being built to meet or exceed regulatory safety standards." Before I take you at your word - I want the Town to go through the complete environmental impact statement process, inclusive of the draft EIR, and what I am certain will be a request from the authorities - for the full blown ENF. This proposal is NO JOKE!!! In essence - we are discussing the location of "bombs in our backyard"... Take a look at what happened recently in the national news - a friend just happened to install a gas connection incorrectly to a new water heater, and blew up most of the neighborhood! When Wyman Gordon was under the auspices of the government - turning out products for the war - we had the equivalent of "bombs in our backyard" then, as well...only the nuclear contamination seemingly hidden and buried in pits managed to compromise our water aquifers - the result, cancer rates here in Grafton that are exponential! Grafton was also labeled as a high priority target during the cold war - and now - with the proposed addition of what equates to a facility housing bombs - what the !@#$ are we trying to do to our children???? Absolutely NO WAY, NO !@#$%^& WAY!!!!

You have got to be kidding me - right? This maniac should NOT be allowed to walk the streets - I can not believe that he actually frequented the halls of Assumption College... Please, do not give him the satisfaction of having an audience - even in the Grafton Daily Voice... I just can not believe that this terrorist is free - LOCK THE !@#$%^& UP NOW! View Comment
