Great Match-ups Highlight Central Mass. Football

MILLBURY, Mass. — There are some great football games on the slate in Central Massachusetts this weekend. The game of the week pits undefeated Auburn against Grafton. Check with your local Daily Voice reporters for updated scores and recaps.

Friday, Oct. 26

Millbury at David Prouty: 7 p.m. The Woolies (4-3) suffered a last-minute loss to Bartlett last week, 26-20. Randy Mogren rushed for 127 yards.

Prouty (3-4) scored a last-minute touchdown and two point conversion to defeat Uxbridge, 22-21.

Grafton at Auburn: 7 p.m. The Indians (5-2) forced four turnovers and running back Cody Munoz had 104 rushing yards in the 45-6 win over Oxford. 

Auburn (7-0) started slow but eventually ran away from Tantasqua, 30-7, last week. Running back Tyler Desjardins had four touchdowns.

Northbridge at Oxford: 7 p.m. The Rams (6-1) took their first loss of the year last week, 42-27, at Shepherd Hill. QB Matt Phelan had three touchdowns, two rushing and one passing, in the losing effort.

Oxford (1-6) was blown out by Grafton, 45-6.

Bartlett at Leicester: 7 p.m. The Wolverines (5-2) shut out Southbridge, 12-0, last week behind Nick Kenneway, who rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown.

Bartlett (3-4) beat Millbury, 26-20, on a last-minute, 80-yard touchdown by Akheem Belnavis, his fourth of the game.

Hudson at Shrewsbury: 7 p.m. Shrewsbury (5-2) dropped a tough game last week to Wachusett, 33-20. Jay Reynolds caught two touchdown passes (9 and 35 yards) from Mike Coggeshall in the Colonials' loss.

Hudson (4-3) beat North Middlesex, 27-7, last week.

Holy Name at Algonquin: 7 p.m. Algonquin (1-6) lost to Marlborough, 20-7, last week. Danny Bishop had a 15-yard touchdown run for the only score.

Holy Name (4-3) beat Gardner, 32-8.

Wachusett at Westborough: 7 p.m. The Mountaineers (5-2) beat Shrewsbury, 33-20, last week. Quarterback Scott Beardsley passed for a 61-yard touchdown and rushed for two more in the victory.

Westborough (0-7) lost to Nashoba, 42-7, last week as the Rangers are still seeking their first win of the season.

Saturday, Oct. 27

Xaverian at St. John's: 1 p.m. The Pioneers (4-3) lost their third game in a row, 37-34, last week to Leominster. Shadrach Abrowkah had three touchdown runs for the Pioneers.

Xaverian (1-7) lost to Bridgewater-Raynham, 32-27, last week.
