Central Mass Football Results From A Busy Thanksgiving Day

CENTRAL MASS — Before the Thanksgiving turkey was served throughout Central Mass, some of the area's top football teams played in traditional holiday match-ups on Thursday.

Northbridge 45, Uxbridge 14: Matt Phelan led the Rams (9-2) with five touchdowns, throwing three to Dan O'Connell in the first half. Jake Taparausky threw and ran for a touchdown to lead Uxbridge (3-8).

St. John's 14, St. Peter Marian 7: Andrew Smiley threw a first-half touchdown to Davon Jones in the first half and ran for the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter for the Pioneers (7-4).

Auburn 42, Oxford 8: Bob Sivret ran for three touchdowns and Tyler Desjardins contributed two of his own to help Auburn finish the regular season at a perfect 11-0.

Algonquin 17, Westborough 16: Stephen Roy ran for 253 yards and accounted for all 17 points for Algonquin (3-8), including the go-ahead 60-yard touchdown and two-point conversion in the fourth quarter. A Dan Orlando pass to Matt LaMountain, along with a 28-yard field goal by Jack Chuma, gave Westborough (1-10) a lead in the fourth quarter.

Leicester 39, David Prouty 14: Nick Kenneway and Thomas Roderick each scored first half touchdowns as Leicester (9-2) routed David Prouty to win the 42nd Battle of Breezy Bend.

Wachusett 28, Holy Name 20: Scott Tupper ran for three touchdowns for Wachusett (8-3). The win was the 100th career win for coach Mike Dubzinski.

Grafton 37, Millbury 6: Cody Munoz and John Coughlin both scored touchdowns on the ground for Grafton (8-3). Millbury is 5-6.

Shrewsbury 28, Milford 0:  Tailback Zach Dionis ran for two touchdowns as Shrewsbury finished up its season with a record of 9-2.  Quarterback Mike Coggeshall threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to Jay Reynolds in the third quarter and also ran in a 28-yarder to round out the scoring.
