AUBURN, Mass. – The Auburn High School sports teams have a lighter schedule this week before the long Columbus Day weekend. Despite playing fewer games, teams are looking to stay focused and go into the mid-season break on a positive note.

Here’s a look at the sports calendar for the week ahead:

The contest against Shepherd Hill kicks off at 7 p.m. Auburn will be looking to avenge its only loss in 2011, when it fell to Shepherd Hill, 32-22. The Auburn High School marching band also is planning a “fun and entertaining field show” at halftime.

Boys' Varsity Golf – The golf team is the only Auburn team with three matches this week. The team’s Monday match is against David Prouty at home. Wednesday, Auburn will be on the road at Shepherd Hill. The team wraps up the week Friday at Hudson. All matches tee off at 3 p.m.

Boys' Varsity Soccer – The team usually plays three games per week, but Auburn should be well-rested after this week with only one game Thursday. The home game against Oxford is at 7 p.m.

The schedule could change because of weather or mosquito concerns.
