WORCESTER, Mass. — The Auburn High Rockets triumphed over the Northbridge Rams, 55-50, Thursday night in a nail-biter at Clark University.

The game was a semifinal in the Clark High School Tournament.

Though the Rams took the lead at the start of the game with strong early play by Jason Ganley, the sixth-seeded Rockets stayed hot on their heels until pulling ahead in the third period.

Auburn forwards DJ Scavone, Tyler Simmons and John Kewley helped pull the Rockets forward with their scoring, with Kewley's 3-point jump shot in the third period tied it at 32-32.

After Drew Goodrich answered a layup by Northbridge's Antonio Becerril with one of his own, Kewley knocked out another 3-point shot to give the Rockets the lead.

While the Rams fought hard in the fourth period, they couldn't close the space the Rockets made for themselves, with Auburn's Simmons, Tyler Lamonda and Mark Wright sealing their fate with a series of precision shots.

Auburn will play Quabbin in the Clark High School Tournament Championship game at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23. The Rockets will make their first appearance in the final since 2001, their 11th overall.

Scoring Summary:

Northbridge  14    9    11   16 - 50

Auburn         10   10   17   18 - 55
