AUBURN, Mass. – The Auburn High School sports teams have been performing better and better each week, and the squads will see if they can continue their success this week.
Here’s a look at the sports calendar for the week ahead:
Boys Varsity Cross Country – The runners will be away for two meets. On Monday, the runners head to AMSA Charter School. The starting gun will fire at 3:30 p.m. On Wednesday at 3:30 p.m., Auburn has a tri-meet at Northbridge. The third team in the meet will be Tantasqua.
Girls Varsity Cross Country – The girls will join the boys in the two away meets at AMSA Charter and at Northbridge. Their races are also scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday.
Boys Varsity Football – The four-time defending Super Bowl champions will hit the road for the second straight week on Saturday afternoon. The game at Millbury kicks off at 3 p.m. It was originally scheduled for Friday night, but it was moved to Saturday afternoon due to mosquito concerns.
Boys Varsity Golf – The golf squad gets to play on its home course for three matches this week. The team’s Monday match is against Oxford. Wednesday, Auburn will host Shepherd Hill. The team wraps up the week Friday versus Tantasqua. All matches tee off at 3 p.m.
Boys Varsity Soccer – The team’s busy week begins at 3:30 p.m. Monday on the road against Bartlett. Then Auburn comes home for two games at the end of the week. The boys host Grafton on Thursday at 5 p.m., and the week finishes up Friday at home versus Millbury at 3:30 p.m.
Girls Varsity Soccer – The Division 2 state champions will begin the week under the lights at home, starting Monday at 7 p.m. against Bartlett. The team hits the road Thursday at 3:30 p.m. versus Grafton. Then the girls have a rare Saturday game, hosting Pittsfield at 2:30 p.m.
Girls Varsity Field Hockey – The field hockey team will see if it can continue its defensive dominance in three home games. The team will start Monday versus Shrewsbury at 7 p.m. Then the girls will face Grafton at 3:30 p.m. Thursday. The field hockey squad wraps up the week at 3:30 p.m. Friday against St. Peter-Marian.
The schedule could change because of weather or mosquito concerns.
