AUBURN, Mass. – The Auburn High School boys cross country team hit the road for two meets this week, edging out AMSA Charter School on Monday and beating both Northbridge and Tantasqua in a tri-meet on Wednesday. Auburn is now 5-1 on the season.
Auburn took three out of the first four spots against AMSA (Advanced Math and Science Academy) in Marlborough, and then Auburn’s depth helped clinch the tight victory, 25-31.
Senior Matt Lavallee finished first in the meet with a 3-mile time of 17:59. The following runners for Auburn included sophomore Matt Healey in 18:05, junior Aidan Foley-Foster in 18:11, junior Kevin Foley-Foster in 18:51, junior John Bylund in 19:08 and junior John Leger in 19:20.
Other Auburn finishers included junior Jacob Mikolajczyk in 20:02, junior Matt Nelson in 20:02, sophomore Thomas Gannon in 20:04, junior Tyler Ducharme in 20:15, junior Zach Peterson in 21:13, junior Kyle Quitadamo in 21:56, sophomore Colin Gallaway in 22:04, and freshman Patrick Callahan in 25:14.
Then on Wednesday, Auburn crushed Northbridge, 18-45, and squeaked by Tantasqua, 26-31, at the 2.9-mile course in Northbridge.
Lavallee was yet again the top finisher in the race, clearing the 2.9 miles in 16:11. The following runners for Auburn included Healey in 17:12, Gannon in 17:29, A. Foley-Foster in 17:34 and Bylund in 17:36.
Other Auburn finishers included K. Foley-Foster in 18:01, Leger in 18:04, Nelson in 18:34, Quitadamo in 18:38, Ducharme in 19:17, Mikolajczyk in 19:41, Peterson in 20:30, Gallaway in 21:08, junior Ryan Malakie in 21:14, junior Chris Cubbedge in 22:58, sophomore Mike Maio in 23:07 and Callahan in 23:53.
Auburn’s next race is on Oct. 3 at 3:30 p.m. in a tri-meet versus Grafton and Oxford.
