AUBURN, Mass. - The Auburn Boys Indoor Track Team earned a respectable second place in Southern Worcester County League Championship meet Wednesday night. Losing only to division 1 Shepherd Hill, the Rockets achieved 78 points to the Hill’s 83.
Senior Giampa Jordon won first in the shot put while senior Josh Anger got sixth. Senior Nathan Conway clinched first in the high jump with a handsome height of 6 feet. In the two-mile run, sophomores Tom Gannon and Matthew Healy won fourth and fifth, respectfully. Sophomore Scott Williams took second in the 300 meter dash and senior Bobby Sivret placed sixth. Junior Matthew Nelson placed fifth in the 55 meter hurdles.
In the 55 meter dash, senior Dominick DiCarlo took second place. Junior Jake Mikolaiczyk won first in the 600 meter run. The boys took fourth in the 4x200 meter relay, and second in the 4x800. The meet’s final event was the 4x400 meter relay, and Auburn ended with a solid win. The participants were senior Mike Vaitkunas, juniors Kyle Quitadamo and Jake Mikolaiczyk, and sophomore Scott Williams.
The Auburn Girls tied with Millbury for fifth place with 30 points. Tantasqua led the division with 68 points.
Auburn sophomore Jessica Pittman took second in the shot put while junior Nicole Plona secured fourth in the high jump. Senior Kathryn Whalen took 6th in the 300 meter dash while junior Jamie McNamara took sixth in the 55 meter dash. Senior Lesedi Graveline placed second in the 600 meter run, and the team took 6th in the 4x800 meter relay.
The girls finished the night with a second place in the 4x400 meter relay.
