AUBURN, Mass. – For the second straight week, the Auburn High School boys cross country team left two opponents eating dust on the race trail.
Auburn swept another tri-meet on Wednesday, dominating Grafton, 18-41, and Oxford, 15-50, at the 2.8-mile course in Grafton. The Rockets improved to 7-1 with the impressive victory.
Senior Matt Lavallee finished first in the meet with a time of 16:02. The following runners for Auburn included sophomore Matt Healey in 16:13, junior Aidan Foley-Foster in 16:21, sophomore Thomas Gannon in 16:37, junior Kevin Foley-Foster in 16:42, junior John Bylund in 16:55 and junior Kyle Quitadamo in 17:01.
Other Auburn finishers included junior Matt Nelson in 17:27, junior Jacob Mikolajczyk in 17:40, junior Ryan Malakie in 19:05, junior Tyler Ducharme in 19:10, sophomore Colin Gallaway in 19:33, junior Zack Peterson in 20:18, sophomore Mike Maio in 20:35, junior Chris Cubbedge in 21:29 and freshman Patrick Callahan in 22:30.
Field Hockey Clinches Playoff Berth
Auburn recorded its ninth shutout of the season on Monday, improving to 9-0-1 and qualifying for the Central Massachusetts district tournament.
The Rockets edged out Nipmuc, 1-0, in Upton, as Auburn senior goalkeeper Sarah Palace tallied her ninth shutout with 13 saves.
Auburn junior Jaime McNamara scored the game’s only goal with 11 minutes remaining in the first half. It was an unassisted goal that she scored off her own rebound.
There was also impressive defense from junior Mary Grace Judge, who made three saves as sweeper.
