AUBURN, Mass. – Superintendent of Schools Dr. Maryellen Brunelle is waiting until the morning to determine whether Auburn students will return to school Tuesday.
Hurricane Sandy knocked out school Monday for Auburn students when Brunelle pre-emptively made the call Sunday in response to forecasts that had the worst of the wind and rain hitting in the afternoon.
Brunelle said she will wait to see the road and weather conditions in the morning before making the decision one way or another.
As of 7:30 p.m., two roads in Auburn were impassable, and 282 National Grid customers were without power. The brunt of Hurricane Sandy's power is expected to leave the area around midnight.
