AUBURN, Mass. – Students from Auburn's Bryn Mawr and Julia Bancroft elementary schools have begun their annual fundraiser to support field trips, family events and student enrichment programs.

Sponsored by the District 1 Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), the fundraiser will run through Wednesday, Sept. 26.

The kids will have a catalog of items to sell to family, friends, neighbors and their parents’ co-workers. The catalog includes such treats as chocolate cheesecake, banana nut bread and triple chocolate cookie mix, as well as household goods – glass bowls, coffee mugs, cookbooks, Tupperware, candles and holiday decorations.

The students will receive prizes for selling a certain amount of items.

On Friday, Oct. 26, the items will be dropped off at the two schools and the PTO will sort the items for pick-up.

“That’s when there’s a big need for volunteers, on the drop-off and pick-up day,” said Chris Stannard, PTO treasurer.

Last year, the PTO raised $19,000. The fundraisers help support field trips, the Sweetheart Dance, Boy’s Bingo Night, Family Movie Night, Teacher Appreciation Luncheon, education programs and much more.

In addition, the PTO supports programs that enrich the educational experience of each student attending the Bryn Mawr and Julia Bancroft. Membership is open to all parents and guardians of students enrolled at either school.

To become involved in the District 1 PTO, attend its next meeting at Julia Bancroft Elementary School on Oct. 9 at 7 p.m.
