AUBURN, Mass. — Auburn High School's Model United Nations delegation will be visiting Boston and Washington, D.C., for a series of Model UN conferences.
Hosted by Boston University, the first conference will bring together about 1,500 students at the Park Plaza Hotel.
"The Auburn delegation has been practicing in incrementally larger conference venues," said Auburn High School teacher and adviser Cynthia Bazinet. "They're very excited about this."
Furthermore, the delegation's next trip to the capital will be for the Washington Area Model UN Conference, the largest one on the Eastern Seaboard, said Bazinet.
"There will be over 5,000 students from around the world," she said.
Additionally, the visit will also give students an opportunity to see museums and take a trip to the White House.
The Auburn delegation has partnered with the Model UN at Wachusett Regional High School.
"They've helped us get our off the ground," said Bazinet. "It's a steep learning curve not only for the advisers but the kids themselves."
To raise funds for the trip, the Model UN students have been manning concessions at Auburn basketball games, holding raffles and selling sweatshirts.
