AUBURN, Mass. - Following April vacation, Auburn High School will raffle off a hockey stick signed by the entire 2011 Stanley Cup Champions to benefit the AHS Girl’s Ice Hockey Team and Invisible Children student club.

AHS has been committed to supporting the work of the organization, Invisible Children, since 2006. The organization was founded in 2003 to bring attention to the atrocities of a two year reign of terror by the warlord Joseph Kony and his Lords Resistance Army (LRA) in Northern Uganda.

Since that time, Invisible Children has rebuilt 11 schools, provided scholarships for thousands of children and developed micro-economic programs to assist former child soldiers and their families.I.C. is currently building a rehabilitation center in Congo as a result of Kony and the LRA having infiltrated that region.

This year’s goal is not only to raise money for the center, but to continue to raise awareness of the events happening in Central Africa, and to focus attention on capturing and arresting Lord’s Resistance Army leader Joseph Kony.

The Bruins Hockey Team was kind enough to donate the hockey stick signed by the entire 2011 Stanley Cup Champions.

Club members will be raffling the stick off at Auburn High School after April vacation.

Raffle tickets will be on sale from April 23 to May 7.

Ticket costs will be two ticket for $5 or five tickets for $10 and you can purchase them at the front window at the entrance of Auburn High School or by contacting Donna Heidemann or Nicole LaPrad, AHS staff.
