AUBURN, Mass. – Massachusetts State Police responded to two motor vehicle accidents 15 minutes apart in the same area of I-290 in Auburn Tuesday morning.
The first happened at 6:30 a.m. and sent a Connecticut woman to the hospital with possible injuries, according to State Police spokesman David Procopio. The three-car accident occurred on I-290 eastbound in the area of exit 7 and Water Street.
The three vehicles were a Ford Focus driven by a 33-year-old Dudley woman, a Toyota Camry driven by a 24-year-old West Brookfield woman and a Toyota Matrix driven by a 56-year-old Thompson, Conn., woman. The Connecticut woman was taken to the hospital, Procopio said.
The cars were towed and the scene was cleared by 7 a.m. No citations were issued, and the crash is still under investigation.
Fifteen minutes later, at 6:45, a second crash occurred on I-290 eastbound in the same area, according to Procopio. The accident involved two cars, and there were no injuries.
The two vehicles were a tractor-trailer from Oklahoma driven by a 23-year-old California man, and a Volkswagen Passat driven by a 20-year-old Dudley man.
The Passat was towed and the scene was cleared by 7:45 a.m. No citations were issued, and the crash is still under investigation.
