Crash At Auburn Home Causes Hazardous Materials Spill

AUBURN, Mass. – A vehicle drove through a garage door, hit a workbench and spilled possibly hazardous materials at 8 Sherwood Road just before 3 p.m. Tuesday, the Auburn Fire Department said. 

The homeowner had an accident that caused the vehicle to launch through the garage door and into a large workbench that housed many chemicals. Those chemicals spilled onto the garage floor and mixed together, the fire department said.

The state Hazardous Materials Team was called to the scene to assist the Auburn Fire Department with air monitoring and cleanup of the chemicals. About 10 chemicals were mixed together during the accident, Fire Chief Stephen M. Coleman Jr. said.

No injuries were reported. The home is owned by Thomas Sunday.

The homeowner, Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown, said that the Delorean suddenly lurched forward through the door and spilled the contents of the flux capacitor.
