AUBURN, Mass. – An Auburn man involved in a two-car accident Sunday morning in Auburn is being charged with motor vehicle homicide and driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.

Keith Leblanc, 26, of Auburn, was charged in Central District Court on Tuesday afternoon. Leblanc is being held on $12,500 bail.

The other driver, Duane Race, 45, of Putnam, Conn., died Tuesday at UMass Memorial Medical Center from injuries sustained in the crash, according to Auburn Fire Chief Stephen Coleman.

According to State Police and Auburn EMS crews, a rollover car accident on Interstate 290 in Auburn was reported early Sunday morning. Auburn EMS crews and State Police arriving at the accident scene at 4:36 a.m. near Exit 9 on I-290 west found Race ejected from his vehicle, a 1996 Chevrolet.

After an initial investigation, police said they identified, located and arrested the driver of a second vehicle, a 2006 Jeep. Leblanc was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operating under the influence of liquor causing serious injury, speeding and a variety of other motor vehicle offenses, police said. The motor vehicle homicide charge was added Tuesday.

If Leblanc posts the $12,500 bail, he would need to be alcohol- and drug-free, submit to random screenings for alcohol and drugs, wear a GPS monitoring bracelet and report weekly to the Probation Department. His next court date is Wednesday, Dec. 12.
