AUBURN, Mass. – Vandals caused thousands of dollars in property and golf cart damage over Thanksgiving weekend at Pakachoag Golf Course, according to Auburn police.

On Saturday, Nov. 24, at 11 a.m., the police station received a report of significant vandalism at the Auburn golf course at 15 Upland St., said Detective Sgt. Jeffrey Lourie. The police found thousands of dollars in property damage and fencing damage at the site.

Eight golf carts, five golf pins and greens across the course were damaged, according to Lourie.

“It looks like people were playing bumper cars with the golf carts,” Lourie said. “We’ve had vandalism up there before, but not to this extent.”

The Worcester County Drug and Counter Crime Task Force, which Auburn is part of, is offering up to $500 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible, Lourie said.

Lourie is asking anyone with information on the incident to contact the Auburn Police Department at 508-832-7777 or 508-832-7738, and ask for Lourie or Justin Starkus, the reporting officer.
