AUBURN, Mass. — As snow piles up in town, the Auburn Fire Department is asking residents and business owners to help out by adopting a fire hydrant near their property and clearing it of snow.

With 525 fire hydrants in Auburn, Fire Chief Stephen Coleman said the department needs the help of residents.

This will ensure hydrants are visible and speed the response time in case of an emergency.

Town Resident:

Took my son 5 minutes to even FIND our fire hydrant! Please dig them out folks...those are precious minutes that could be the difference between life and death.
